After choosing our play we were faced with the challenge of deciding on our stagecraft roles.
This was a difficult process which, i believe should’ve had a more formal method. We sat in our production room and had an open discussion about who wanted which roles. A problem arose as the majority of people wished to act, however there was a limited number of cast members. The director was decided first as Scott put up his hand to not be a cast member and rather take on the role of director. everyone was happy with this. however, all 4 girls wished to act, and only three could. One, kindly, comprimised her desire to act. the discussion and process of deciding the cast was chaotic and LOUD. i feel as though it would’ve been better had there been a more set process, such as everyone submitting their preferences in order to allow us to ensure that everyone had at least one preference that they were happy with. Had we not had comprimising, co-opertave, and NICE ppl in our class - this would’ve been and even harder process. After the chaos of deciding on cast members and director, we realised our method was floored. Scotty then stepped in to help us out - he went around the room one by one asking which other stagecraft role we would like - we started with the people who didn’t get their first preference of acting, meaning others had to comprimise their second preference which was fair, this was a much more organised, and QUIET way of doing things. although not everybody was, at first, thrilled with both of their stagecraft roles - i think we had the most smiles possible come out of this decision, after all, it is hard to make everybody happy althogh we would wish to do so. i think that everybody suits their stagecraft roles and have every belief that each member will excell in their role. Scott - director, dramaturg.
Jono - acting (waiter), lighting (mulitimedia)
Dan.G - Acting (Stephen), sound.
Yaniv - Acting (Gordon), dramaturg
Elise - Acting (Paula), make-up
Kimmi - Set design, promotions
Mel - Acting (Dympie), properties
Naomi - Acting (monika), costumes
